We are a small select kennel, in Southwest Lower Michigan, dedicated to the breeding of quality Scottish Terriers. We started our journey in 1991, with our beloved "Inki"- Inki Doodle McTavish - who produced two obedience title winners, one conformation champion, and one group winner. Thanks to Inki and with guidance from our mentors Charla Hill of Charthill Scottish Terriers and Pat Wooster of Cumbria Kennel, we were hooked and began breeding and showing our Scotties. Our first champion was Inki Doodle Dandy ("George") in 1996, followed by our first multi-specialty winner, CH Charthills Sweet Georgia Brown.
The HIQ Scotties have proven to have brains as well as beauty. In the obedience category, we produced Ross The Boss McTavish, CDX, who was the number one Scottie in the 1995 Delaney System ratings. And, in 1997, Smokey Mountain Ice ("Squirt") was grand champion obedience dog all breeds in The Cass County Fair, with 8-week-old puppies at home. How's that for a working mom?
Since then we have produced several AKC Champions. In 2003 alone, eleven HIQ Scotties finished their AKC Conformation Championships. CH HIQ'S Ride The Wild Wave finished with a specialty win and was just one of our many bred-by champions.
CH HIQ's Ride The Wild Wave (left) finished his championship with a specialty win.
Our team consists of Nancy Schaus (mother) and Regina Hess (daughter).
We are supported by Harold Schaus (father), the motor home driver, Dick Hess (dog care giver at home), and Aunt Chrissy, webmaster and puppy care giver.
